Roger James Kinney was born to Paul and Dorothy Kinney on June 11, 1949 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. His family soon moved to Concord, California where he grew up enjoying the outdoors with his three brothers, hiking at Mount Diablo State Park, and playing high school football at Concord High school.
After graduating HS in 1968, Roger enlisted into the Army and completed an assignment in Germany. He returned in 1970 to marry his high school sweetheart, Gail Marie Birge, and together, raised two children, and shared 45 years together.
Roger served as a Police officer for 37 years; 22 in Washington D.C. and 15 in San Antonio. Through this time, he grew a passion for serving his community and committed himself to helping those in need. He will always be remembered for his generous nature and selfless service to those he swore to protect.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; children, Colleen and Brent, their spouses, Craig and Liz; five grandchildren: Reagan, Parker, Avery, Reid, Jackson, as well as his dear Maltese Chihuahua, Nugget.
