

Roland Medellin went peacefully to eternal rest with the Lord on Wednesday February 16, 2022, He was surrounded by his beloved family during his final days. He was 88 years old. Roland was born in San Antonio, Texas to Manuel Evaristo Medellin and Aurora Medellin. He attended Harris Middle School and then Brackenridge High School in San Antonio where he lettered in football, baseball, and band. He attended Saint Marys University in San Antonio as a music major and completed his university studies at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Electrical and Mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska reaching the rank of E4 before being honorably discharged. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamations in Denver, Colorado and Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, then as an independent engineering consultant in San Antonio until retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Velia, his many dear friends, barbecuing, and gardening. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Lions Club
He is survived by his sons Roland and wife Gloria Medellin of Gonzales Texas, and Roger and wife Elizabeth Medellin of Ashburn Virginia; his sister Delta-Medellin Gasperich of Montclair California; and three grandchildren Nathan, Micah, and Ava Medellin. Roland is predeceased by his wife Velia Medellin; his mother Aurora Medellin; his father Manuel Evaristo Medellin; his sister Dorothy Fernandez; and a brother Manuel Medellin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
