Romeo J. Vasquez

Romeo J. Vsquez, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with Our Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the age of 72. He was surrounded by his loving children, grandchildren, family, and close friends. His children are Laura Vsquez Wilson and Romeo J. Vsquez, Jr. and wife Letty. His grandchildren are Tyler Wilson; Mia Alejandra, Ana Carolina, and Joaquin Andres Vsquez. Romeo was born on December 3, 1936 to Sabas and Delia Vsquez in Hebbronville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Dolores, and granddaughter Layne Elizabeth Wilson. He is survived by his two sisters, Hilda Laura (Roberto) Haynes and Rosa Lidia (Rafael) Pea; and numerous adoring nieces and nephews. Romeo, a lifelong rancher, graduated from Hebbronville High School in 1955 and St. Mary's University in 1959 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. He received his Master's Degree in 1967 from Our Lady of the Lake University. Romeo was a music teacher and band director early in his career and followed as Hebbronville Junior High School Assistant Principal and High School Principal. He went on to serve two terms as Jim Hogg County Judge. Thereafter, Romeo returned to the Hebbronville School System and served as Assistant High School Principal. Since his retirement in San Antonio, Romeo had been devoted to spending time with his family, watching over them with fierce pride and unwavering love. Romeo was renowned for his lively, jovial spirit, quick wit and zest for life. His greatest joys were his trips to Las Vegas with his family and spending time at his ranch in Bruni, Texas. His overwhelming generosity towards family and friends will be his legacy. Romeo will be remembered as a caring, loyal person who was beloved and respected by all who crossed his path. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the loving and caring staff of Griswold Special Care and Hospice Inspiris.
