

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961-1981. During this time, he was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals and many other medals, awards and commendations including the Bronze Star with Valor for his service in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl Leon and Freda Ree Good Boyer and grandson, Joey Altenberger.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Edmondson-Boyer of Bulverde; sons, Rodney Boyer and wife, Kandi of Benton, LA and Russell Boyer of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Tonya Altenberger of Marion, IL; grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Matthew Boyer, Hope Altenberger, Ashleigh Boyer; brother Leland Leon Boyer of Decatur, IL; sisters, Anita Stinson and husband, Bill of Ramsey, IL and Rita Hatfield and husband, Ron of Cisco, IL; two step children; two step grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many beloved friends; and his beloved white poodle, "Nuthin'". He was a former member of the Wylie Volunteer Fire Department, the Swingin' Singles Square Dance Club, the Tall Club, the Goldwing and Retreads Motorcycle Clubs. He was a lifetime member of the Bulverde Bowling Club, current member of the Bulverde Community Center and a Wednesday night regular at Spechts Store. Ron was an avid NASCAR fan who attended many races and was looking forward to attending his first Daytona 500 in February with his son, Rodney.
