Ronald Benn French

Ronald Benn French, 83, of San Antonio, TX, passed away on February 2, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born March 4, 1940, in Auburn, NY. Ron was a devoted husband to Judy for 60 years and loving father to David and Lisa, and an amazing friend to many. He loved spending time with his family, the lake and boating, camping, long bike rides and hikes.

Ron is survived by his wife, Judy French; his son David French; his daughter Lisa Hanna; his son-in-law Sam Hanna; grandchildren Kendra Hanna and Samantha (Peter) McMahon; great grandchildren Connor, Noah, Avery, and Oliver; his brothers Gaylord French; Jimmy (Maryellen) Hosford; Lynn (Barbara) Hosford; his sister-in-law Ann French, his brother-in-law Fran (Elaine Post) Simmonds; sister-in-law Peg Simmonds; sister-in law Dorie (Tom Helmrich) Simmonds; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Richard French, his mother, June Hosford; his stepfather Fred Hosford, his brothers Richard French, Donald French, and Keith Hosford; sister-in-law Christine Simmonds and brother-in-law John Simmonds.

Ron served in the military in Germany and then spent most of his career with Eastman Kodak. He then transitioned into building beautiful wood furniture which was a natural talent for him. Ron and Judy spent their golden years enjoying their lake house on Lake LBJ, traveling, and creating many wonderful memories together.

Ron was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family would encourage you to donate to the American Cancer Society. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service will be scheduled soon. A Celebration of Life will be held in Auburn, NY at a later date.
