Ronald D. Merrell

Dr. Ronald D. Merrell, Major USAF Retired, age 90, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 15th, in Naples, Texas, to parents, Audrey and Roy Merrell. Dr. Merrell attended the University of Oklahoma where he obtained his Ph.D. Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a Bronze Star recipient. Ronald retired as a Major after 30 years of service. After retirement from the Air Force, Ronald served as Professor and Dean of the graduate school at St. Mary’s University where 37 years later, he retired as Professor Emeritus. Ronald is survived by his wife, Gloria Andrade Merrell, son; Ronald D. Merrell II, daughter; Cynthia Smith; Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren; brother-in-law; Robert Andrade and wife Diane; cousin Sr. Martina Ponce, FMA. The family will receive guests Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary.
