Ronald Thomas Steele

Retired Airforce Master Sergeant, Ronald Steele, age 84 passed away on July 23, 2023, at Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was born on the 24th of July in Chicago, Illinois. He was an avid golfer, playing and working on courses since the age of 12 years old. That love of golf continued throughout his 26 years in the United States Air Force as a member of their golf team. He competed in many tournaments worldwide, winning numerous awards.

While serving in the Airforce, he spent 20 years as a medical technician, two years as aircrew medical service tech and four years as a military training instructor. He was proud a Vietnam Veteran, serving as a medic with MILPHAP from June 2, 1968, to May 23, 1969.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger O. Steele, mother Marian Hellwig, stepmother Anna Steele and brother Roger W. Steele.

He is survived by his wife, Ina, of 53 years; sons Ronald T. Steele and wife Kristin, of Montgomery, TX; Michael “Scott” Steele of San Antonio; daughter, Kelly Martinez of New Braunfels, TX; sisters Ginni Enders of Portland Oregon and Barbara Farrugia of Roselle, Illinois; grandchildren; Joshua Steele, Kacee Steele, Sturgis S. Steele, Tanner B. Steele, Aiden Martinez, Liam Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the medical staff, care givers, doctors and nurses at the Audie Murphy Hospital in the CLC ward for their loving and professional care given to Ronald during his stay.
