I thank God for allowing me to share a part of my life with Rosita. Our daily after dinner chats with our mutual friends are unforgettable. I shall always remember my special "Comadre". Rosita will always be in my prayers. May God Bless her and may she rest in peace.

Rosita, a beautiful lady, and like her name, a beautiful rose. We knew her very well. From the time Freddy wrote some musical arrangements for her and for Diana Rosa, "Las Bodas De Luis Alonzo", to most recently, when she was living at the Retirement Center. My Mother lived there also, and we had lunch together many times. She was our biggest fan and we were hers as well. 
Rosita had a kind word and a gentle smile for everyone. Always a lady. We miss her already. May she sing with the Angels, till we meet again.

Dear Raul and Diana and family,I know you don't remember me, but my father, Ernest Ray Ray Russell, and your mother were good friends, when we lived in San Antonio, in the years 1950 to 1953.We were invited to your birthday party, at Breckenridge Park, in 1952, Raul, and have good memories of that day, and how much fun we had.I was 11 years old, and because I loved to sing, your mother invited me to sing on her TV program. She wanted me to sing Tennessee Waltz, so I practiced and practiced and the time came and I got stage fright, and wouldn't do it.....and I regret it to this day.I did sing for all kind of things, the rest of my life, and won gold medals in High School. I ended up being an Analytical/Environmental Chemist, for 35 years, instead of going into Music, as a career.To this day, I remember your mother with great love and affection, as she was such a generous and kind person, and my parents thought so very much of her and kept up with some of her achivements, over the years, with great pride, at having known such a wonderful and talented woman. We moved back to Houston, in 1953, but never forgot our few dear years in San Antonio, and would and still do visit there, often.My sincere sympathy in your loss of such a wonderful mother. What a Lady! Rosita was the sweetest, kindest and most gracious lady I ever knew. I was Marketing Director at her home, Newforest Estates. I was so saddened at the news of her passing. I have so many fond memories of her. To Charlie and the rest of the family,you are in my prayers. God Bless

RAUL WAS ON HAND AT EACH PERFORMANCE. WE ATTENTED CAST PARTIES FOR THE GROUP ON WOODLAWN AVE, AND HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF THE EARLY CASTS OF THE SHOW. I would like to take this time to express my dearest sympathy to all of Rosita Fernandez's family and friends. I had the opportunity to meet Ms. Fernandez when I was only two years old. I played the part of Stephanie in the movie 300 Hundred Miles for Stephanie. I was one of the twins.Although I do not remember details but I remember the stories that my parents told me of her. Ms.Fernandez will always be a part of my life and with all her success, I will look up to the first lady of song and strive to become a success like her. I look up to women like her and I will miss her very much. Memories of her will be the pleasant voice that she had and now she can sing with the angels. Dear Rosita 
How very sad I was to hear of your passing. I cried not only for your family, but for myself, because one of the great ladies of San Antonio went to join our Heavnly Father's Choir. How lucky Heaven is to have you! I thank God for the many years He gave us here in San Antonio with you. I met you once about 7 years ago at the downtown Denny's Restaurant where I was employed. I was lucky and blessed enough to wait on you and your beautiful family. You were so very kind when I asked you for an autograph! I treasure that autograph more than almost anything in my life! I just wanted to let you know that you and Patsy Cline are my 2 favorite singers. Both of you have inspired me all my life. My love of singing was inspired by you and Patsy. I know I shall never be as famous as you are, but if I can make just one person happy with my singing, then I consider myself almost as famous as the two of you. May God give you eternal rest and may He help your loving family the strength they need to get through this most trying time. P.S. If I may ask a favor of you? Would you mind singing "Las Manaitas" to our Blessed Mother for me? I just know tears of joy will be running down her beautiful face when you honor her with that song. I love you. And I will miss you greatly.

A special lady who i had the privelege of meeting, she will be missed and will always have a place in my moms heart as well as mine and the city of San Antonio.

I was reminiscing this morning about a time that we went to see my Aunt Rosita perform at the Arneson River Theater. She introduced all the members of her family that were in the crowd and I remember feeling so proud to be her nephew and to be there. I will surely miss her.

Diana Rosa and Raul and family, my deepest sympathy on the loss of your mom. I have very fond memories of Rosita. Each and every time I saw her she always gave me a hug and every time I saw her I would ask "How's Diana Rosa?" She would always tell me that you were doing fine and gave me tidbits about your husband, children and grandchildren. As a little girl growing up on Trinity and Torreon, I remember going to your home on Pinto and San Fernando. She always treated me like I was family. She was a wonderful person. Rosita lived down the street from me when I was a child. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. She and my mom and dad were great friends at the time. My dad was a San Antonio Police Officer and she was about 18 or 20 years old and was adored by all who ever met her. May God bless her family!

I was shocked to read the news today i have fond memories of you when my parents use to take me to the river for fiesta noche del rio every year i looked foward to hearing you sing every summer. im gonna miss you but you will now be singing all those beautiful songs to my father now.

As a young lady I danced with several dance groups. I was always in awe of Rositas talent and beauty. I will forever carry the memories of the summers spent at the Riverwalk and Rosita walking down the steps of the bridge which has been named after her.

I will always have such fond memories of Rosita and Raul, I feel so fortunate to have known them. Tonight you will see just how important she was to San Antonio. The outpouring of love will overwhelm you. It wasn't until my father Mateo died that I truly understood what he meant to our Hispanic community. Rosita went far beyond that, she touched so many lives in our city with her talent, graciousness and thoughtfullness. I'm sorry I won't be able to give you my condolences in person but please know that you are in my prayers.

Rosita "San Antonio's First Lady of Song" will always have a special place in my heart. I can remember seeing her perform at the Arneson River Theatre in Fiesta Noche del Rio. My Dad was a Kiwanis Club member and as a little girl, one of the highlights of the summer was to go downtown and help Mom and Dad volunteer for the Club -- and then I would get to see and hear Rosita! I know she is singing with the angels! Vaya con Dios.
