Roy C. Gonzalez, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and lifelong traveler, entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on January 24, 2025 at the age of 72. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 3, 1952 to parents, Marina Capuchino and Robert Gonzalez.
Roy lived life on the open road as a truck driver, traveling through numerous states and taking in the beauty of the country. He found joy in the simple things—shopping at Walmart and H-E-B, always picking up something he thought his family might like. He was a man who put others before himself, never seeking the spotlight but always making sure his loved ones were cared for.
Roy had a bold personality, never afraid to speak his mind. He was a jokester, a “shit talker” in the best way, always bringing humor and honesty to any conversation. Beyond his wit, he had a true talent for cooking. His steaks were perfection, his crab salad unmatched, and his ribs—beautifully juicy and seasoned to excellence—were loved by all who had the pleasure of tasting them.
In 1975, at the age of 23, Roy proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving overseas in Germany. During his service, he earned the Good Conduct Medal and the M-16 Rifle Marksman Badge, a testament to his dedication and skill. His time in the military shaped his disciplined yet generous nature, which he carried with him throughout his life.
Roy will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Marina and Robert Gonzalez; sisters, Helen and Sandra; and brothers, Abel and Robert.
His memory will forever be remembered by his daughter, Venessa Escoto; grandchildren; sister, Emilia; brother Julian and Larry. He will also be remembered by all his nieces, nephews and numerous extended family and friends. Roy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.
