Roy James Silence was an avid photographer. His greatest joy was grilling out for his family and trying new recipes with his wife. He was gentle, caring, and loving; he never knew a stranger. He could talk to anyone about anything and his personality lit up a room. Roy entered eternal rest on March 14, 2025.
He was born in Bryan, TX to MSG Floyd and Maria Silence on November 15, 1950. He graduated from Jacksonville State University, and received a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from Webster University. He had such a desire to learn new things and broaden his knowledge base.
Roy served his Country honorably as an Army Medical Service Corps Officer, Aeromedical Evacuation Officer, Health Services Materiel Officer and Combat Development publications writer. After his 20-year Army career, he held varied civilian positions including a Caremark Pharmacy Supervisor, Global Commodity Manager for Philips Semiconductor, Bexar County Assistant Purchasing Agent, and Civil Service Doctrine & Literature writer.
Roy met Jane Newbanks Silence at Jacksonville State through his Kappa Sigma brothers and her Alpha Xi Delta sisters; it was love at first sight. They were married for 51 years, rarely apart from one another. Survivors include their daughter, Staci Elizabeth Silence Seitze (Bryan), Colby James and Caiden Matthew (grandsons). Surviving sister and brothers are: Karin Ann Silence Britt (Phillip), Larry Joe Silence (Linda), and Mark Edmund Silence (Robin).
Surviving nieces and nephews are: Lisa Maria Britt-Buge (Scott, Bridgett and Jenna), Tammy Britt, Kelly Michelle Silence, Ryan Floyd Silence (Manami) (Leon and Luca), and Kyle Roger Silence (Rebekah) (Alora).

His family was his passion and soul. There was no doubt that his wife and daughter were loved with all his heart. Angels watch over you, my beloved.
