

Sergeant 1st Class Ruben G. Dominguez, US Army (Ret.) went to be with the Lord on Monday December 26, 2011. At the age of 77. he is preceded in death by his father Cirelo Dominguez, mother Maria Gonzalez, brothers Jessie Dominguez and Eddie T. Gonzalez and step son Robert R. Sanchez. He is survived by his wife Guadalupe Dominguez, his daughter Sylvia Dominguez, step- children, Mary Mora, Roland Duran, Carolyn Bondoc, Debora Sanchez. His sisters: Elida Luna, Maria Elena Borrego, Dolores Cuellar. He was grandfather to 8 grandchildren and 5 great grand children. Ruben joined the army in 1950. Served in Korea with 25th Infantry Division as an Infantryman from 1952 until 1953. In 1965 served in Vietnam with 101 Airborne Division until 1966. From 1966 until 1968 served as a drill sergeant for OCS. Prep school in Fort Sill Oklahoma. In 1968 until 1970 served with the 75th 9th Infantry Division Airborne Rangers. He retired from military in 1976 with 24 years of service. Ruben retired from Kelly AFB with 23 years of civil service. He was a life -time member of DAV, life -time member of VFW; and life -time member of the Alamo Silver Wings Airborne Association. Additionally, he served as a member of the elite, Honor Guard for many years.

Visitation Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 5 :00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road
with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram road with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Army Military Honors.
