

After graduating from high school, she attended Draugher Business College in OKC with a sponsorship from the American Legion Post of Edmond, OK. In 1942, she went to work for the Civil Service Employees of Tinker Field Air Force Base in OKC. While working there as a secretary, she met Gilbert Deininger, her boss. They got Married April 16, 1943 and moved to San Antonio in 1946.
Her early life in San Antonio was devoted to raising their 3 sons. She worked at the Stock Show, was very active in the PTA, a dedicated Boy Scout mom, and devoted member of Los Angeles Heights UMC.
In 1972, she and Gilbert moved to Canyon Lake, TX. There she dedicated much of her time to Church In the Valley, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Republican Women of Canyon Lake.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Gilbert.; Her mother Vera Jarvis and stepfather, Cleve Salee; Sisters Shirley Mae and Beverly Ann, and brother Ernest. Ruby is survived by her 3 sons and their wives: Gil and Fran Deininger of Catspring, TX, David and Diana Deininger of San Antonio and Paul and Debbie Deininger of San Antonio; her 5 grandchildren: Michelle Flannigan and Ken, Clint and Alex Deininger, Michael Deininger, Brandon Deininger and fiance' Sandy, and Melanie Chesser and Nik; 4 great grandchildren: Nolan, John, Leah Flannigan and John Alan Deininger, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home on 610 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio , TX 78232 on May 1, 2017, starting at 11:00 am. Funeral Services will follow and start at 12:30pm in the Sunset North Chapel. There will be a funeral procession after the funeral services leaving from Sunset North Funeral Home to San Fernando III Cemetery for burial services starting at 2:30pm.
