Rudie E. Mr. Fritz

Mr. Rudie E. Fritz, born in Marion, Texas to Emil C. Fritz and Thelka Nee Elley Fritz on September 2, 1913 died on May 30, 2007 at the age of 93. Rudie attended grade school at Scheffels School. This school does not exist at this time. Rudie finished school after 8th grade. He then worked on the farm until the age of 21 when he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. Rudie was stationed at Ottine, Texas, Lockhart, Texas and Gillette, Wyoming then returned home after 4 years of service. After his return home, Rudie attended Barber College, graduated and worked as a barber for approximately 18 months. He then applied for examination with the San Antonio Fire Department where he passed his test and was accepted into the Fire Department on February 15, 1941. Rudie served in the following steps in the Fire Department - Fire Fighter at Station #8, Promoted to Engineer at Station #26; Promoted to Lt. at Station #21; Promoted to Assistant District Chief at #21, transferred to Station #7 then to Station #3; Promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in 1962 and served at Station #1. In September 1974 was transferred to Fire Chief's office as Assistant Fire Chief; Served with Fire Chief's Hart, Radthe, M.L. Butler, B.T. Mulhern and I.O. Martinez. He retired September 2, 1978 after serving 37 years, 6 months and 17 days. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fireman's Relief Fund and a member of Hermann Sons Lodge, Anton Wenzel, #174 and member of Retired Firefighters and Police Association. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith on April 29, 1928 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marion, Texas. Then he met Lillian Louise Swant and they were married September 22, 1940. She passed away September 6, 1994 from Alzheimer's. Rudie is survived by his two sons, Robert Emil Fritz and his wife Almena Pearl Peets Fritz, Rudie Olin Fritz; daughter, Patricia Ann Fritz Senich; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
