

Carroll D. Myers and Emma Ruth King Myers became the proud parents of Ruth Evelyn Myers on February 14, 1932 at their home in San Antonio, Texas. Ruth had a happy childhood with her brother, Carroll D. Myers Jr., better known as Bustie, many family and friends in San Antonio and the Myers Ranch in Kendalia, Texas.
Ruth graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in May, 1950. After graduation she went to work at the Witte Museum as a receptionist, secretary and curator. On December 2, 1950 she married her longtime boyfriend, Alois M. Bechtold, from Kendalia, Tx. They had 3 beautiful children, David Lee Bechtold, Ricky Martin Bechtold, and Ruth Ann Bechtold. Ruth put a lot of joy and love into raising her children with a lot of support from her parents. During this time she worked part-time helping Alois at his automobile repair shop. She was executive secretary and treasurer of the Art League and manager of the Hallmark gift shop at North Star Mall.
On July 3, 1980, Ruth married her much loved Merv Sparks. They enjoyed and loved their life together. Working as a team in managing apartments and mini storages. Their favorite love was traveling in their motor home.
Ruth had 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 4 stepchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, and 8 step great grandchildren.
