

Dr. Perry Post, a respected physician in San Antonio and a long standing member of Manor Baptist and Woodland Baptist Church, died peacefully on the evening of June 4 in the loving arms of his daughters. Dr. Post was born in San Antonio on February 24, 1915. He attended St. Mary's University and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he received his M.D. degree in 1938. He served in the Army Medical Corps from 1941-1946, where he attained the rank of Major. He was a devoted family practice physician and an important member of San Antonio's medical community. He was twice named Physician of the Year by the Alamo Chapter of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and in 1972 he was elected President of the Bexar County Medical Society. In 1973, Dr. Post joined the faculty of University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio as a professor in the Department of Family Practice and Director of the Student Health Center. Upon his retirement in 1983, he worked as Clinic Director for family planning clinics on the south and east sides of San Antonio until 1998. In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Post loved traveling all over the world, and shared his experiences with others by giving travelogues at local retirement homes. He served as a Deacon at Manor Baptist Church, and continued to be a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church. Dr. Post is survived by his daughters, Martha Keating and husband, Roderic, Marilyn Wright, and Nancy Hester and husband Stephen; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife, Dorothy, to whom he was married for over 65 years, died peacefully in her daughters arms on June 7, 2007.
