Sammie was born on March 18, 1930 in San Antonio and resided in Midland since March of 2002.
He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and AT&T in San Antonio for 43 years before retiring from AT&T as an Engineer in April 1989.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, served as President of the East Central School Board in 1977-1978, served as Chaplain of the China Grove Lions Club, and was a lifetime member of the Harlandale Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Alice Murdock of Midland; son, Sammie Jr. and wife Sandee of McKinney, TX; son, David Murdock and wife Cindy of Midland; daughter Melody Hall and husband John of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
