Sandra “LaVonne” Snider was born in Atascosa, TX to Artie Mae Fryar and Harry Snider on June 15, 1942. Lavonne married the love her life, Gus Smith at Messiah Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX on April 24, 1960. They had four children together. Leslie Cade, Kristine D’Lane, Laura Devon and Jeffrey Wayne.
Lavonne co-owned an HVAC and appliance business with Gus for more than 45 years. She was active in the Refrigeration Service and Engineers Society, serving as chapter Vice President. She wrote several novels, enjoyed reading, stained-glass art, studying the Bible and sewing. In earlier years, she bowled in a league and later spent time traveling across the country and at the family lake house in Tow, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: James Harry, Brenda Joyce, Ruby Darlene, George Michael, and Larry Randall.
Survived by her children and their spouses, Kevin and Leslie Ehlinger of San Antonio, Calvin and Kristine Scott of Keller, Daron and Laura Wigley of San Antonio, Jeff and Denise Smith of Boerne, grandchildren David and Jena Hosier of Hurst, Derek and Megan Connally of Magnolia, Travis and Melanie O’Brien of San Antonio, Beth Smith of Boerne, great grandchildren Corbin Moody of Fort Worth, Laney, Devyn and Champ Connally of Magnolia. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Mike Smith, Mickey Snider, Travis O’Brien, David Hosier, Derek Connally and Corbin Moody.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at San Fernando Cemetery III located at 1735 Cupples Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78226.
