

Sally is survived and dearly loved by her brother, John Austin of Hotchkiss, CO, and by her daughters and their families, Kate and Frost Travis and their children Knox and Gray of Ithaca, NY, and Dorothy and Pete Wagner and their children Jack and Phoebe of Rochester, MN. She is also remembered with love by nieces and nephews: Susan Hallmark (San Antonio, TX), Janet Austin (Evanston, IL), Cynthia Hair, (Clover, SC), Rusty Austin, (Los Angeles, CA), Courtney Austin (Charlotte, NC) and Kurt Austin (Tasmania, AU). She will be greatly missed by her partner of almost 20 years, Steve Petersen (Parker, CO). Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Jack Austin and Hazel Austin, and by her sister, Elizabeth Hallmark, of San Antonio, TX.
Sally was born February 21, 1948 in San Antonio, TX to Jack and Hazel Austin. She attended MacArthur High School graduating in 1966, then went on to attend SMU in Dallas. She was married to John K. Scoggins of Dallas, TX from 1968-1997. For many years Sally was a stay-at-home mom, but at age 45 she returned to SMU to finish her degree. She was an active member of PEO in Dallas before moving to Parker, CO. In Parker she worked in early education and later met her partner Steve.
Sally was a talented seamstress, quilter, and enjoyed any type of arts and crafts. She always had fun cooking and entertaining. Over the years she took pleasure in many outdoor activities like skiing, fishing, golf and travel. Sally had a clever wit and was quick to laugh.
Sally’s life was cut short by the debilitating neurodegenerative brain disease PSP. A funeral is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. August 29, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio, TX. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sally's life.
