

She was a resident of both San Antonio and San Benito, Texas.
Mrs. Hinojosa taught in SAISD and also did substitute teaching in the San Benito School District.
She was a longtime parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church as well at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito and was a volunteer in many organizations.
She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Dn. Luis Leal and Dna. Maria Eufemia Guzman Leal. Orphaned at age 16 she worked to save her family homestead, which had been in the Leal-Guzman family since 1917.
Her education included Fred Booth grade school, San Benito High School and San Antonio College. As a tribute to their parents' belief in education as "the greatest gift" a parent can give their child, Gustavo, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Raul, a graduate of Trinity University, founded the Leal Hinojosa Scholarship in 1989 in New York City.
Since 1990 Scholarships in excess of $51, 000 have been given to graduating seniors at San Benito High School. The year 2005 marks the first year a scholarship will be given at a New York High School-Washington Irving High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Attorney Raul Hinojosa who passed in 1989. Survivors: sons, Raul E. Hinojosa and wife, Kion, San Antonio, TX, and Gustavo N. Hinojosa and his partner, Steve Lafredo of New York City; grandson, Raul Gustavo Hinojosa of San Antonio, TX; brother, Luis Leal; sisters, Lucilla Gonzalez, Lillie Sprague and Ramona Morin.
Visitation will be Friday from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring.
