Scott Anthony Dix, 57, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 in Canyon Lake, Texas. He was born in Bunker Hill, Indiana to parents Howard William Dix, Sr. and Georgian Rahe Dix on January 30, 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his brothers Howard William Dix, Jr., Robert James Dix and his wife Patty Dix, David Lee Dix; his sister Vallerie Newman-Walker and her husband David Walker. Scott was loved very much by his nieces and nephews, Derrick Dix, Melissa Elder and her husband Derek Elder, Travis Dix, Jessica Willhight, Zachary Dix, Amanda Newman and Brandon Newman. He was lovingly known as "Ung Gotti" to all of them and especially to Amanda and Brandon who looked forward to him bringing the donuts every Sunday morning while they were growing up.
Those who knew and loved Scott know his famous flag story. So it goes: an American flag hangs from an archway of trees over River Road that Scott is responsible for placing for all to see driving down River Road. A flag originally hung over this road until one day when Scott saw a person pulling the flag down. Scott tracked this person down and had him held responsible for this travesty. Scott, being Scott, took it upon himself and had another flag hung in the exact same place to honor those who have served our country. Scott drove down River Road every day, sometimes twice a day, to enjoy the beauty and serenity that he so cherished.
