Shane Irwin

Shane Irwin of San Antonio passed away in a motorcycle accident on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Shane was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to parents, Lynn Irwin of San Antonio, Texas and Brian Irwin of Seattle, Washington. He is survived by his older brother, Garrett Irwin of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Some friends wrote that although Shane’s time with us was far too brief, his spirit was a blazing light that touched everyone he met. Shane truly lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with a zest that was infectious. Whether he was racing through life, jumping into the air, or riding on someone’s shoulders—often with a cast or two—he never let anything hold him back.

He only had two speeds: sleep and fast. He had such an adventurous spirit and always lived life on his own terms. Shane loved being on his motorcycle – it was his happy place where he could be with friends or cruise by himself to clear his mind. His mischievous smile would light up a room and his sense of adventure was contagious. He played hard and cared deeply about those around him. He would do anything for his friends and he would feel so happy to see all that they have done to remember him since the accident and so grateful for the support they have shown to his family.

The house is quiet, the garage is missing a motorcycle, and our hearts are missing him deeply. A beloved son, brother and friend, Shane left an impression on all he met. Shane has left us all with so many great memories and stories from our time with him. The laughter, the smile, a hug before he got on his motorcycle, his kind spirit…these are the things we will miss the most.

The road ahead feels empty without you, but your spirit will forever ride with us, guiding us through the curves and challenges of life. We will carry your love for life in our hearts, forever and always.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
