Sharlet was preceded in death by her father, Roy Dale Henderson. She is survived by her loving mother, Betty Lois Henderson; her devoted husband, Chip Lynn; her sister, Dana Mattox; and her cherished daughters, Callie Lynn and Abbie Lynn.
A proud graduate of Texas Tech University, Sharlet earned her Bachelor of Science in Education. For more than 20 years, she dedicated her life to education, serving both as a Physical Education teacher and as a Special Education teaching assistant. She was known not only for her professional commitment but also for the encouragement and inspiration she provided to her colleagues and students. Sharlet was also a mentor and guide post for fellow Army wives. She dedicated her time and energy in support of family units at home. In recognition of her service, Sharlet was honored with the Yellow Rose of Texas Award by Governor Rick Perry in 2013 and received the Shield of Sparta for her faithful and significant support of the Infantry’s soldiers and Army families. Of all her accomplishments, however, Sharlet counted her greatest joy and achievement as raising her two beautiful daughters.
Sharlet’s life was rich with the simple joys she loved: everything Texas Tech, sewing, listening to non-fiction audiobooks, watching hummingbirds, enjoying the wide-open flatlands of the Panhandle, and taking road trips with those she loved...Plus Julios chips and green chile.
She will always be remembered for her unwavering faith in Christ, her servant’s heart toward friends and family, and her steadfast support and mentorship to other military families and wives. Sharlet’s legacy will live on in the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she so freely gave.
