A lifelong academic, after graduating from St. Mary's Hall, she went on to graduate Vassar College, graduating both at the top of her class. But, that wasn't enough. After marrying Raleigh Delong Jr., she completed a Master's Degree at the University of Houston. The Episcopal Church also played a guiding role central to her faith and life. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio, Texas, and attended Christ Episcopal Church in Mexia, Texas after she and her husband moved from the Houston area. She was happiest when she was with her family or serving the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Hilliard Sharp, brother "Tommy" Sharp, husband, Raleigh DeLong Jr., and daughter, Nancy DeLong. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Dinah DeLong Rogers, and grandchildren, Rachel Rogers and Charles Rogers.
