

Shirley Sherwood Walker, also known as Sherry, passed away on September 1, 2020 after an extended illness. She was born May 4, 1939 in Columbus, Georgia. Sherry is survived by her husband, Charles Walker, and numerous extended family and friends. A heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Jacqueline Garner and Sonia Galindo, who lovingly cared for her the last months of her life.
Sherry retired as an editor from the Civil Service. She earned her degree from UTSA by attending classes at night after a full day’s work. She was a member of Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church.
Sherry loved music and played the piano. She was a quilter and loved her quilting circle friends. She also loved to travel overseas and enjoyed the countries she visited with friends. Sherry especially loved family reunions. Although she could not see all of her family, she never lost her love for them. She always felt God had a plan.
Sherry was a very caring and compassionate person. She enjoyed helping the less fortunate, especially during the holidays. She also had compassion for ill and less fortunate children and have supported St Jude’s for many years. Sherry and Charles also had a love of animals and continually rescued and took in stays.
Sherry will be remembered as a beautiful, caring, and compassionate person who inspired everyone she met. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
