

Sisto M. "Chito" Flores quietly passed away at his San Antonio home shortly before midnight on Thursday August 12th, 2010 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Kingsville, Texas on March 28th 1923, the son of Julian and Cresensiana where his father was a cowboy on the King Ranch. Sisto honorably served his country as a proud member of the 96th infantry division, 381st as a medic. As a fighting "Deadeye," he volunteered for service shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. His unit was the first into the Philippines and he fought through the South Pacific where he received the Bronze Star. After the war, he graduated from Texas A&I in 1949. Following graduation, he was a Principal at Palito Blanco Elementary School where he also served as a tax assessor for the Jim Wells County school system. He helped to found VFW Post 8926 in Palito Blanco, Texas. He moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the federal government for several agencies and retired in 1987. After retirement, he moved to San Antonio, Texas and was active at Olmos Basin Golf Course as a ranger. He was very active in the Fort Sam Houston Memorial Service Detachment Honor Guard where he served as Vice Commander. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Blazita, his daughter Sandra and his son Julian, daughter in law Lisa and his grandchildren Molly and Julian Jr. Services are as follows: Visitation, Tuesday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Sunset North 910 N. Loop 1604 San Antonio Texas. Rosary and Vigil Mass will be Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 20523 Huebner Road, San Antonio, Texas. Burial Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church followed by internment at Fort Sam Houston at 1 p.m.
