Stella Adik, a longtime resident of Elizabeth and recently of San Antonio, Texas, died November 17, 2005. She is survived by her son Stephen P. Adik of Valparaiso, IN, her daughter Carol Leeds of San Antonio, TX, and six grandchildren: Gwynn Ellen Wasson, Jeffrey Adik, and Marcus, David, Kirsta and Thomas Leeds. Stella was born in Buffalo, NY, and moved to Elizabeth as a child. In 1931, she graduated from Battin High School and was employed at a local shirt factory and later at Thomas and Betts. In 1939, Stella married Stephen "Tippy" Adik.
After 50 good years together, Tippy died in July 1990. Stella was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she helped with weekly bingo and other parish activities, and of the combined Holy Rosary - St. Michael's. She was also an active member of the Rosary Society. For almost 10 years, Stella volunteered at the gift shop at Trinitas Hospital, formerly St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
Two years ago, Stella sold her house on Marshall St. and moved to San Antonio, TX. Wherever she went, Stella cheered the room with her smile. She was a truly loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
