Dear Grandma, As I write this, exactly two weeks after you left us, I am still shaking my head in disbelief. I just can?t get my mind around the fact that you won?t be waiting in the carport the next time I come to San Antonio. We are truly blessed to be a part of the family that you and Welito created. I am so thankful for everything that you gave us, and I?m especially grateful to be able to call your cherished son Dad. There are so many things that I admire about you, and I hope that I can take what I learned from you and try to live my life with the same dignity, strength, and grace. I love you more than I can say,

Dear Mom, I'm so sorry that I took so long to do this, you know how I put things off. It's just that there is so much I want to tell you that I don't know where to start. First of all, I will ask you like I used to ask you, do you know how much I love you? do you know how lucky I am? I can hear you answer, "aye mija como no." I miss you so much, I see you everywhere. We used to go everywhere together and you never complained even when you did not want to go to Marshall's or Steinmart, and I still take you with me Mom, but instead of sitting next to me, you ride in my heart. I think it's safer there and you don't need a seatbelt. We are all doing pretty well Mom, and we know it's because you are still taking care of us like you always did. Oh Mama if you only knew how much I love you!!! I think you do know right? I promise we will stay together and love each other and see each other just like when you were here. Give Papi a kiss for me, tell him how much we love him and how we love repeating his stories. Thank you so much for everything Mom, and especially now that you continue showing your love to us by keeping us calm and serene. I hope one day to bring as beautiful memories to my daughters and grandbaby as you have left for us. I love you Mommy, rest peacefully in God's love, we are going to be fine.

Grandma, 
There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you constantly, the other day I found a pair of the pajamas that I had bought for you while I was cleaning and I just broke down. I have been taking this really hard and I know that it is really selfish but I wish I had you here for one more day the way that I remember you, in the kitchen cooking and telling me stories about how you and welito met. I miss your smell most of all and the only way that I can describe that smell is home. Thank you for loving me unconditionally and I can't wait until the day that we see each other again. The only thing that comforts me is that you are with welito. I love you very much and I hope that you knew that. I miss you very much and I know that no matter what, you will still be there for me when I need you. Dana
