From the time we were 15 years old in Fontainebleau in France until I heard with sadness of Steve's death, never did I meet a single person who did not like him. His own special humor, integrity and kindness inspired that love and respect. Thanks for the songs, Steve, and God bless and keep you until we meet again.

I REMEMBER LISTENING TO STEVE AND DOUG LAND JAMMING ONE AFTERNOON AT PARIS AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL IN PARIS A LA 1959. NICE SOUND THEN AND STEVE'S LAST ALBUM WAS A TRIBUTE TO HIS ARTISITC GROWTH AND MUSICAL SENSITIVITY. 
AS AN AMERICAN WARRIOR, USMA '66 HE DID MORE THAN HIS PART IN THE 'NAM.
 HE BLESSED US ALL & WILL BE MISSED.

As a fellow student and musician at Paris American High School in Paris, France in 1959/60, I loved Steve like a brother the day we first met; he invited me to his parent's home in Fontainbleu where I also came to know his parents. Without doubt, Steve can now rest easy knowing that he had so many real friends during his time on this good Earth (the "Good Guys" as artists and musicians like to refer to them), and that he accomplished remarkable achievements; one being his last music album, "Thin Ice". What a great piece of work to leave us mortals; his album cover and liner notes are the best that this olde guy has seen in a long, long time.

Steve will be sorely missed, but never forgotton. Steve is now in a better place and position to assist with the music end of God's work.

I didn't know Steve, but I know, after listening to some of his music, that I wish I had known him. We would have been friends. Our only connection other than a love of music, is that we both attended Paris American High. I too went to France when I was 12 years old and had experiences that changed my life. My deepest sympathies to Steve's survivors. I am sure his passing has left a sizable hole in all your lives. May Steve rest in peace and enjoy the love of our Saviour.

Steve was a friend from high school in Paris (France). He was admired by many and will be missed by all of those who knew him. Be at peace, old friend.

I talked with Steve online before I met him at our Night To Honor Israel a few years ago. When we met, he made me feel like he had anxiously awaited our face-to-face meeting. I knew he had to be very special because he was so loved by my blessed mentors, Tim and Renate McWright, and everyone who knew him. It was clear how precious his Gabriela was to him. 
May he sit at the feet of our Lord until we can greet him again in Glory.

I worked with Steve on a Government contract and only knew a small portion of his life. Steve always conducted himself with integrity and will be missed. My deepest symapthy to his family.

I was sad to read that Steve lost his battle with cancer and can only imagine how much you will miss him. I don't know if you remember Gabbi but when my sister was undergoing chemo treatment we met you during that time. Probably the first time was when he had some reaction to the meds. I enjoyed our litle "visits", and altho I did not know Steve well - I do remember him, and you, and you are so right - his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. My condolences to you and other family members in this time of sorrow. Kathy Neesvig

STEVE WAS... 
A MAN to whom "duty, honor, country" was very real and an essential part of his being. 
A MAN who created music like others breathe in and out. 
A MAN who found it impossible to be unkind or hurtful intentionally--even when the other person might have, indeed, deserved it. 
A MAN who, when he committed himself to something, saw it through. Even if there was no reward or positive end in sight. Even if what he committed to was not what he personally wanted. If it made someone important to him happy, he did it. 
A MAN who came alive when discussing sometimes arguing! about things that mattered to him or that he believed in deeply. Sometimes that was politics. Sometimes a personal cause. He was a master of the incisive, eloquent, "letter to the editor." 
A MAN who was a good businessman. And a musical and visual artist. Both hemispheres of his brain functioned equally well. A rare and beautiful thing. 
A MAN who I cared for, and who I will miss greatly. We said goodbye back in January--without actually saying the word. We didn't need the word. During his illness, I planted many flower seeds in my garden, and told him each one of them was a prayer for him. Right now, on the day of his memorial service, my garden is awash with the colors of hundreds of flowers.

Steve,
You touched the hearts and minds of everyone you met. We will miss you but look forward to catching up with you again someday. Peace be with you my friend.

Steve, you left an everlasting impression on our hearts. We won't forget your love and devotion and your joyful spirit full of life.
