Steve Meyer age 59, of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX died Saturday, August 17, 2002 of liver failure. Steve began his independent contractor sales career with Acme Premium Supply in 1963 supplying stuffed animals and game supplies to the outdoor amusement industry out of St. Louis, MO. After coming to San Antonio for Hemisfair in 1968, he moved making it his home. In 1995, he started his own firm-Flat Store Supply-that continues serving the outdoor amusement industry. Flat Store Supply provides game supplies, stock, and concession/ride canvas. His customers knew him as "their stockman". Steve's commitment to the industry included active participation in the regional, national and international showmen associations. Memberships included Outdoor Amusement Business Association, International Independent Showmen's Assc., Showmen's League of America, Lone Star Showmen's Assc., Pacific Coast Shwmen's Assc., Midwest Showmen's Assc., Arizona Showmen's Assc., and Hot Springs Showmen's Assc. plus many others. His respectful commitment to those in the industry was rewarded with the opportunity to serve on two of the assoication boards-extremely unusual for "a stockman." In 1984, he served as President of the Arizona Showmen's Assn. and in 1996 served as President with the Hot Springs Showmen's Assn. This came with four to five years of moving up through each associations' chairs to President. The industry demonstrated over and over their mutual respect for him. On a personal note, one of Steve's most pleasurable events was attending his 25th Class Reunion in Ste. Genevieve, MO in 1996. As a subscriber to the Ste. Genevieve Herald, he connected with many of his schoolmates, friends, and family members. Steve hope to be remembered as one who portrayed integrity, respect, and commitment to all that shared in his life.
