Born on February 23, 1944 to Robert and Alice Fogg (Lehne) in Laredo, Texas, Sue was raised in a Christian home and identified as a Methodist.
Sue married the love of her life, Johnny, after meeting on a blind date set up by her longtime friend Susie Pearson-a true love at first sight romance that endured 58 years. Sue mastered the art and skill of sewing and designed her own wedding dress for their ceremony. She was always by his side sharing many good times over the years with a balanced focus on different hobbies, but mutual friendships and love for family.
Sue started working as a secretary and bookkeeper, became the business owner of Texas Photo Type, and eventually sold the business to Cutting Edge where she worked until retirement. She was a self taught entrepreneur who adapted to advances in technology by taking some college courses when necessary.
Sue served her God by helping many people with rides to doctor’s appointments, get togethers, and taking meals to neighbors and friends. She also volunteered her time and energy working with the Kendalia Ranches road committee. Hosting get togethers for family and friends, including simple “Sweet Potato Sundays” and annual Easter celebrations at her Hill Country home, was a source of great pleasure. Sue always relished the time when her son Rob would come visit from north Texas, and she cherished and celebrated all of his many accomplishments. She felt very fortunate to have her daughter Kim and family living on the ranch. It brought her great joy to watch Kim and Eric raise their boys in the Hill Country. She loved her grandsons Noah and Ethan, faithfully making monthly photo pages recording good memories from every year of their lives. She spent some time with them almost every weekend, making sure to catch up on what was happening in their lives. Sue also enjoyed hosting Ron and Betty’s family and their kids for many memorable ranch sleepovers and adventures.
Sue enjoyed playing Bridge, a passion and enjoyable pass time that provided countless hours to socialize and nurture enduring friendships. Sue gardened, planted fruit trees, made compost, and pulled weeds at her property. She especially enjoyed the Hill Country sunsets on her deck overlooking the fields, feeding the birds and wildlife, raising goats as well as pet deer and llamas, and taking long walks with her dog Ryder and with her sister, Bobbie. Sue was blessed to have a close relationship with both of her sisters. She could always count on her younger sister Lisa for advice on caring for animals.
Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory the love of her life, husband, John Renker Jr; son, Rob Renker; daughter, Kim (Eric) Harrison; grandsons, Noah and Ethan Harrison; sisters, Bobbie (Sam) Mowery and Lisa Fogg; and sister-in-law, Betty Renker.
During the last weeks of her life Sue was cared for by friends, family, and the kind people of Hill Country Memorial Hospice. The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support through prayers, notes of encouragement, meals, and flowers.
Family will be receiving guests for Sue Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232, followed by a Celebration of Life from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
