Susie had a gift for making everyone laugh, often when they needed it most. Her quick comebacks, sassy sense of humor, and unwavering honesty made her unforgettable in any room she entered. She loved family gatherings and hosted the holidays meals. She loved her casinos, also. But it wasn’t just her wit that brought people close—it was her heart. A devoted caretaker, Susie was the glue of her family, always putting others before herself. She was a steady hand during hard times and a warm presence during joyful ones. Susie graduated from Somerset High School in 1957. She was a member of the Pep Squad and the Future Homemakers of America. After high school, she worked for Freddie Harris, Sand & Clay . She also worked for the Bexar County Clerk for several years. Beyond her family, Susie gave her time and energy to the community and Somerset ISD. She was a member and an officer in the Somerset VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Susie was also active in the Somerset PTA and was the first Hispanic elected as its President .
Upon retirement, she devoted her time to taking care of her son, John. In her later years, she enjoyed the fellowship provided by the Somerset Senior Citizens’ Center.
