

Sylvester was a proud veteran of the U.S. army during the Vietnam war. He served honorably. achieving the rank of Corporal / Specialist 4. Earning recognition for his outstanding service, he was awarded several medals for his heroic action where he helped his fellow soldiers despite being wounded himself. Because of his bravery the Army awarded him the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, and the Purple Heart. Although Sylvester didn’t speak much about his time in the Army, he proudly acknowledged his brothers in arms.
In 1973, he married the love of his life, Concepcion Palacio. Together they built a strong home where they raised two sons, Timothy and Michael. Sylvester was a devoted father who worked hard in concrete work for 20 years to make sure his wife and his sons’ well-being was always taken care of. Sylvester lived not only for his wife, but his grandchildren who he adored with all his heart, making him not only the best husband, but the greatest grandfather. He will be missed more than words can express but will be forever in the hearts of his friends and family until we meet again.
Sylvester was preceded in death by his mother, Margarita Palacio Bermudez; stepfather, Jose Maria Bermudez; and brothers, Henry Bermudez and Ruben Bermudez. Sylvester is survived by his wonderful sons, Timothy Sylvester Palacio (Anita), Michael Louis Palacio (Melissa); grandchildren, Addacierose, Melody, Melah, Madelyn, and Tiana Palacio; and siblings, Joe Bermudez, Olga Borrego, Hermina Rodriguez, Grace Garza, Frances Hernandez. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Porter Loring Mortuary.
