Sylvia battled MS for 22 years and fought fiercely until the end. She faced it with courage and handled it with grace.
She was a member of the University United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her parents; sister, Gayle and husband Dr. Richard Longoria; nieces, Jennifer Japhet and Alexa Longoria; nephew, Jeff Japhet; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A reception will follow the memorial service at the church.
