Sylvia H. Rodriguez

Sylvia was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Deacon Antonio G. Rodriguez; her three daughters: Angela M. Rodriguez, Anna Maldonado, MD and Adrienne D. Rodriguez, PhD; grandchildren: Amanda Fernandez, Yasmin Abu-Al-Jaibat, Allegra (Sterling) Rodriguez-Treviño, Gabriel and Jacob Gomez; and four great grandchildren: Madeleine, Camille, and Aiden Calderon; and Joaquin Abrigo. Brothers, John (Carmen) Hernandez and Arthur Hernandez, sister, Jean Tocco; sister-in-law Gloria Hernandez; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents: John C. Hernandez and Adela Mena Hernandez and her brother David S. Hernandez.

The family would like to express deepest gratitude to Victor Treviño whose unwavering support, kindness and joyful presence have been a true blessing.

Visitation will be at Funeraria Del Angel Treviño Funeral home 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Tx 78237 on Thursday, July 17th, 2025 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm; with a rosary at 7:00pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday July 18th, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Basilica of the Little Flower 1715 N Zarzamora St., San Antonio, TX 78201. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Tx 78237.

Sylvia was a graduate of Ursuline Academy Class of 1956. She volunteered with the Head Start program and completed her Associates degree in Early Child development at San Antonio College.

Sylvia retired from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.

Her life pleasures were spending time with her grandchildren, crafting, and decorating for holidays.

Sylvia was actively involved in her church community at the Basilica of the Little Flower, where she was a member of the church choir, a volunteer with Little Flower School Parent Teacher Committee (PTC), a home room mother and Girl Scout leader.

A devout Catholic, Sylvia was committed in service to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns.
