Terry was preceded in death by his father Frank Buchanan, mother Freddie Buchanan, and sister Lesli Buchanan.
Terry graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas, Class of 1973. He studied management both at Odessa College in Odessa, as well as South Plains College in Lubbock, Texas.
In Abilene and later once moving to San Antonio, he worked in the cabinet industry for nearly 25 years both manufacturing and later selling cabinets. In 2017 he discovered he had lung cancer, and that bout was fought and won, that particular cancer not to return. Later, Terry retired in February 2020 at the age of 64.
Any person who met Terry would describe him as a generous and kind man, one whose integrity and moral character were never in question. He regularly made an effort to brighten people’s days, whether they were a close relation or a grocery clerk. He always had a smile that will be sorely missed. He loved a good debate. Even though ideologies might be different, every idea he supported was buoyed by the belief that it really was for the greater good and he was greatly respected for that.
Terry was known for remembering people: birthdays, anniversaries, any special date. He would remember, and he loved sending personalized animated cards. Those will be missed.Cancer came back to his life in late 2021, but even as he fought this new bout, he steadfastly supported his Mom through various maladies of her own. When Terry ultimately lost his battle with cancer, his mother Freddie had just lost her battle with cancer 10 days prior.
Freddie had lived a full life and was ready to go, but Terry still dreamed of adventures to go on and experiences to enjoy. His sons, Aaron and Joshua plan to fulfill those dreams in time.
Terry is survived by his sons, Aaron and Joshua Buchanan; his brother Kelly Buchanan; his niece and her husband Crystal and Mark Clevenger as well as his great nephew Keaton and great niece Abigail. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle Peggy and Barry Boyd as well as numerous cousins. In addition, Terry is survived by his former wife, mother to his sons, and his close friend, Barbara Buchanan Crane. Terry was loved by anyone who knew him, and he loved right back.
