

Prominent local Attorney and former Judge, the Honorable William L. Baskette, died on September 19, 2016 at the age of 61. He is preceded in death by his parents, William L. Baskette, Sr and Josephine Marino Baskette. Judge Baskette is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Baskette, children, Matthew Baskette and wife, Mary and Aisha Baskette Chavez and husband, Ezgar, brothers; Larry Baskette and wife, Katherine, Michael Baskette and wife, Donna, Mark Baskette and wife, Linda, Kevin Baskette and wife, Doris, and Kenneth Baskette, and his sisters; Lisa Drayer and Hope Sirera and husband, Richard.
Judge Baskette has been a prolific litigator throughout Bexar County and the entire state of Texas for more than 30 years, specializing in Family Law and Criminal Defense.
Throughout his career, Judge Baskette has served as a County Court Judge, District Court Judge, and as a prosecutor.
He was a faithful Catholic, loving father and husband. He was known for his humor, love for music, dancing, acting in many plays, and commercials.
He enjoyed writing articles for La Prensa among other newspapers, as well as his published yearly calendars. He had a beautiful voice singing in the church choir, and his love for teaching at Northwest Vista College.
Judge Baskette loved the courtroom, both as a litigator and as a Judge. He often donated his legal services for individuals unable to afford traditional legal fees and made donations to different charities.
A visitation will be on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough. A procession will depart Porter Loring Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26th with a mass at San Fernando Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian.
