

As a young woman she worked at the San Antonio State Hospital and Kelly Field during World War II. As an Air Force wife, lived all across the heartland of the United States, Alaska and Germany; she became adept at making a comfortable home at every station.
She was an accomplished artist and flower arranger, her many blue ribbons are testament to her creative skill. She was awarded a lifetime membership to the San Antonio Garden Center by one of her peers.
She was an active member of Manor Baptist Church, and taught Sunday School for many years.
After forty years of marriage she was preceded in death by her second husband, Lt. Col. Davis E. Newman.
She is survived by her daughter Merry Smith Langlinais and husband, Michael, daughter Deborah Newman Narvaiz of San Antonio and daughter Cherry Newman McKenna of Texas; her grandchildren, Melisa Baker Walters and husband Wes of Kerrville, Michael Baker and wife, Karen of Upper Marlboro, MD, Patrick McKenna, Michael McKenna of Rowlette, TX, Sean McKenna of San Antonio, Robbin Lane Foster and husband, Paul of Houston, TX, Victoria Narvaiz of Bryan, TX, Vanessa Narvaiz of Denton, TX and Jeremy Narvaiz of San Antonio; her great-grandchildren, Daniel Baker and Kimberlee Baker of Maryland, Deanna Walters and W.R. "Rocky" Walters of Kerrville, Katy McKenna of San Antonio and Alexandra Foster of Houston.
