Thomas Farris Bibb, affectionately known to family and friends as “Tommy,” went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. He was 82.
Tom was born on July 26, 1943, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to Charles McLean Bibb, Sr. and Ann Farris Bibb. A gifted student with a sharp mind and strong work ethic, Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of New Orleans. At just 21 years old, he became a Certified Public Accountant, earning recognition as the youngest CPA in the country at the time by meeting the rigorous requirements of age and professional experience.
Tom began his career with Ernst & Ernst, where he worked for five years before joining Conroy, Inc. as comptroller. He later became Executive Vice President of the diversified company, which owned businesses including Glastron Boat Company, Nauta-Line Houseboats, Sno-Jet snowmobiles, Tricosa knitwear companies, and O’Sullivan Industries. Following the liquidation of Conroy in 1985, Tom continued his professional journey working with former majority owner Hugh Halff, Jr., and maintained his association with the Halff family interests even after retirement.
While Tom was proud of his professional accomplishments, he believed his greatest success was his family. He was devoted to his wife of 43 years, Glenda Lenhardt Bibb, and together they built a strong, blended, and deeply loving family. Tom was a pillar of strength—steadfast, encouraging, wise, and generous with his time, guidance, and love. To his children and grandchildren, he was a protector, motivator, and cheerleader, always offering steady counsel and unwavering support.
He was lovingly known as “PolPol” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a treasured name given by his beloved grandson Andrew. Being PolPol was one of his greatest joys.
Tom is survived by his wife, Glenda Lenhardt Bibb; sons Patrick Bibb (Silvia), Michael Bibb (Kelley), John Bibb (Eileen), and Casey Cates (Alexis); daughters Heather Lynch (Joe) and Tana Dawson; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles McLean “Mac” Bibb, Jr., Richard Bibb and Christopher Bibb (Lisa); sisters, Alice Haab, Ellen Bibb, and Andree Munson (Lance).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles McLean Bibb, Sr. and Ann Farris Bibb; his brothers, Peter and David Bibb; his sister, Suzanne Groover; and his beloved grandson, Andrew Thomas Lynch.
A Vigil will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4201 De Zavala Rd., San Antonio, Texas, on March 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the same location on March 20, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception in the JP2 Room of the church.
Tom’s legacy is one of faith, integrity, devotion, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Mobile Loaves & Fishes Ministry, Assistance League of San Antonio, or a charity of your choice.
