Thomas Alvarado Castillo

Thomas Alvarado Castillo, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in San Antonio. He was born on March 21, 1938 in San Antonio to his parents, Santiago Castillo and Augustina Alvarado. Upon his graduation from Fox Tech High School in May of 1956 at the age of 17, Thomas joined the United States Navy and served honorably for four years. He later became a teacher for multiple school districts throughout San Antonio, teaching the youth of our community for 30 years. He enjoyed dancing with his wife of 22 years, Yvette, and spending his Friday nights watching high school sports. Thomas loved to see how the athletes developed their skills throughout their career from high school to college. He also loved being a member of the Men's Breakfast Club, as well as the Fox Tech Alumni.

Thomas is survived by wife, Yvette Victoria Castillo; sons, Thomas Castillo Jr. and wife, Oralia, Steven Castillo and wife, Sonia, Jimmy Reyes, and Richard Reyes; daughters, Elizabeth Baby and husband, Jacob, Cathy Zuniga and husband, Arturo and Melissa Reyes; grandchildren: Mark Lucas (April), Stephanie Timsah (Mikol), Rachel Baby, Michael Jacob Baby, Neomi Newton, Mathew Zuniga, Edward Zuniga, Zaccharius Ortiz, Cassandra Ortiz, Ernie Ortiz, Jr., Vanessa Estrada and Adrian Villarreal; great-grandchildren: Allison Lucas, Annabel Lucas, Amelia Lucas, Natalie Newton, Nadia Newton, Mia Newton, Alyssa Newton and Mia Timsah; great-great-grandchild, Aubrey Lynn Newton.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
