

On February 18, 1989, Tom married Kathy Majot in San Antonio, TX. Tom graduated from Highlands High School. He joined the United States Navy Reserves in September 1969 - April 1974. He served on the USS Duluth (LPD6). He received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and Ribbon Bar and the National Defense Service Medal. Tom joined the HEB Grocery Company in April 1974 and retired in January 2013 with 38 years of service.
Tom had a passion for racing including Go-karts, NASCAR, Indy car and Formula One. He was an avid Spurs fan attending games for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, August Draeger and Rose Draeger Shaw and brother-in-law Donald Blackwell Sr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy A. Draeger; sister, Janice Blackwell; and his faithful dog, Ginger Rose. He is also survived by brother-in-law David Westphal (Donna Morrell), sisters-in-law Debbi Baker and Elizabeth Choate. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Donald Blackwell Jr (Bernice), David Blackwell, Donna Gildersleeve, Robert Blackwell (Stephanie), John Blackwell, Bradley Westphal (Delores), Ryan Westphal (Randi), Dawn Choate (Cindy), Shawn Choate, Scott Baker (Leslie) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Pall bears will be Donald Blackwell Jr., David Blackwell, Robert Blackwell, David Westphal, Dawn Choate, Scott Baker and honorary pallbearer John Blackwell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Thursday, March 10 from 11:30 to 12:30. Rosary is scheduled for March 9, 2022 at 7:00pm at Porter Loring Mortaury North Chapel.
