

Thomas “Tom” Michael Mewhinney, 62, was born on July 31, 1963, in Cleveland, Ohio, and passed away on April 9, 2026. A selfless, beloved, humorous man, Tom brought steady warmth, laughter, and care to the people lucky enough to know him. Tom resided in San Antonio, Texas.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Tom was the son of Robert Mewhinney and Therese McFadden. He grew up alongside four siblings—Therese, Robert, Patricia, and Edward—and carried the importance of family with him throughout his life. Tom graduated from St. Ignatius in Cleveland, OH.
Tom served in Desert Storm, a chapter of his life marked by commitment and courage. In his working years, he retired from the post office after 16 years, closing a career defined by reliability and dedication.
On March 4, 1988, Tom married Grace Mewhinney. Together they shared 38 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, partnership, and family. Tom was a proud father to one son, Spencer (Elizabeth) Mewhinney.
Tom found joy in the simple, happy rhythms of everyday life—loving basketball, watching MASH and The Price is Right, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His humor was a constant gift, and his presence had a way of making ordinary moments feel lighter and brighter.
Tom will be remembered for his humor and selfless nature. He took care of everyone, even until the end, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and a steady willingness to show up for others. His life will continue to be celebrated in the stories shared, the laughter echoed, and the love carried forward by those who knew him.
