Born November 23, 1928, Tom John Wakely was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the age of 78. Tom was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio and immediately moved to Santiago, Chile where he lived until the age of 13. He moved back to the U.S. eventually residing in San Antonio.
A graduate of Central Catholic High School and SMU University, Tom was an entrepreneur, owning his own insurance claims business and car rental company. Tom also served his country as a Marine during the end of WW II.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Thomas John Wakely Jr., his mother, Bernadette Lower-Wakely and his sister, Jennette Wakely-Sitterle. Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Edwards-Wakely and his six children; son Tommy Wakely and wife Letti; son Pat Wakely; son Mickey Wakely and wife Jane; daughter Cindy Wakely; daughter Nancy Benz and husband Mark; son Brad Wakely and wife Mary Kay; and his 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
