Tiffani Burgess Rockhold, age 50, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Guam on October 12, 1969. Tiffani was a passionate supporter of many causes, including those for animals, her Catholic faith, racial justice, and the amputee community. She won a Nebraska State tennis championship while a sophomore at Papillion-LaVista High School, and retained a love for athletics throughout her life. Tiffani received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Communication’s degree with a major in public relations from Southwest Texas State University, where she was also a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She worked as a senior communications manager for several large San Antonio companies, including USAA, Frost Bank, and Harland Clarke.
Tiffani enjoyed cooking, movies, dancing, garage sales, theatre performances, and spending time with family and friends. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of television and movies, and enjoyed true crime and horror films. Tiffani loved visiting New York City, and had been looking forward to making the trip with her husband for next year’s anniversary of the September 11 terror attack.
Tiffani met and fell in love with her husband, Joshua “Josh”, when they both worked at Harland Clarke, marrying in November 2014. She became a loving mother to Josh’s children from a previous marriage, and introduced Josh and the boys to the love provided by dogs. Tiffani was an exceptionally thoughtful gift giver, and was always thinking about how she could brighten someone’s day. Her Christmas gifts were legendary, and it was fitting that she became engaged to Josh on a Christmas morning.
Tiffani was a proud member of the San Antonio Amputee Foundation, after having a below-the-knee amputation in October 2018. She became a Certified Peer Visitor for the Amputee Coalition to assist people who were preparing for amputations or whom had already undergone the procedure. Tiffani enjoyed motivating others to live their “new normal” and inspired able-bodied and disabled people with her perseverance. During the course of her marriage, Tiffani made the decision to become Roman Catholic and share in the faith of Josh and the boys. She was active in several ministries at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, but her favorites were RCIA, Bible Study, and Adoration. Tiffani and Josh had just embarked upon the Diaconate program with the Archdiocese of San Antonio several months before her passing.
Tiffani is survived by her loving husband, Joshua Rockhold, and their two sons, Zachary Nathan and Ethan Michael; father, James Burgess; mother, Eileen “Joy” Smith Burgess; sister, Wendi Deleon and her husband, Mariano, and their children, Alejandra “Alex” and Cristian.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
