We give thanks that Todd shared his outgoing spirit and big heart with Schreiner University for even a short while. We are all the better for his being among us.

What is there to say about a man that had it all? I loved Todd. There was no question about that. I loved him like a mother loves a son, a father loves a daughter, and a brother and sister love each other. Todd was my brother. I remember that day fifteen years ago in 4th Grade when I looked up and saw a giant before me. He always had his head in the clouds because of his height. I always thought that he should have been in the Guinness World Book of Records. It seems like yesterday that we were sitting on my back porch being mischievous. I will always remember growing up with Todd and always getting into some kind of trouble. There are so many stories that I can tell but I would have to write an entire book to get them out. I am going to highlight the ones that come to mind. Keep in mind that we never did anything mischievous around his parents or family. I remember one summer day, we must have been ten or eleven and we decided that it would be a good idea to throw big clumps of mud rocks in the middle of the street to see all the cars swerve out of the way. This was all in good fun until we got chased by the police and told to clean it up. That was kind of a downer because the cop had ruined our fun. The same summer we also decided that it would be a good idea to throw rocks at the ice cream man as he drove down the street, all of this was done at my house by the way, well I guess that the ice cream man did not like this too much because he came onto my cul-de-sac and just made a scene. Todd and me both laughed about that one for weeks. When it came to Todd and me we just could not figure out for the life of us why the cops were always around us. We were going to a friend?s house, must have been 15 or 16 when we hear in the distance ?Hey I know that you two were at this party.? We argued with the cop for a good 10 minutes until we finally convinced him that we were in fact not at the party. Even being in trouble we still knew our limits and the limits of the law, maybe a little too well. A few years later the neighborhood was developing and there was a dirt road behind my house and we could have swore that there was a crazy person that lived in the woods by my house. I remember Todd, me, and my dad going to hunt out this evil person and take care of him. It turned out that someone had just threw out some old mattresses and other things but we had our imaginations. We did a lot of good things growing up also. We both worked at the bowling alley on Bitters road. Todd always had trouble talking to members of the opposite sex. He was so shy no matter what he told everyone else. He would always ask me to go talk to a girl that he thought was cute. I like to think that I am the one that got the shyness out of his system. I can also remember sitting by the pool being boys, as he said in his wedding toast at my wedding. We used to play a mean game of water volleyball. I always had Todd on my side because he was the only one that could spike the ball in the pool. We would always play together. He was always the first one picked for any sport that he played because of his height. In seventh grade we both had the bright idea to go out for the football team. That was the year that Todd broke his leg. Bright idea huh. I remember whenever Tommy went to Tech he gave him a Tech hat that he wore his whole life. That had to be the grossest hat known to man, but he loved that hat. Todd once told me that I was never going to let him forget the day that he stole my girlfriend and he was right. Now I wish that I could have stopped picking on him about it. The majority of our relationship has been long distance because of military school and then the Marine Corps but we were the type of friends that no matter the distance we were always there for one another. The Todd that I remember was always a great friend and confidant. There was nothing that I could not tell him. I always called him the jolly green giant. I never had trouble getting things off of the top shelf whenever he was around. He was very useful in that aspect. Todd had a family that loved him and friends that were always there for him. He was the type of person that if you ever asked him to do something he would do it without question and even sometimes if it was not in his best interest. Not only was he my best man in my wedding but he was my best friend. When I first found out that he had cancer I thought that he was just playing a joke on me but I soon found out that it was not a joke at all. While I was out fighting for the freedom of the country, he was back on the home front fighting for his life. One of the freedoms that meant the most to me I could not help fight. Cancer is the world?s worst enemy and hopefully someday we will discover a cure. The world is going to be a different place now that he is not walking the streets. I personally do not know how I am going to handle it. I know that I will be able to survive because he will always be with me no matter what. He is going to be my guardian angel. I never knew how many peoples? lives he had affected until just recently whenever I saw how many people showed up to see him off to the gates of heaven. He touched every person that he ever met in one way or another. There is so much more to be said of him but the important thing is that we all know that he loved everyone very much and he was loved by more people than anyone else I know. I am going to miss him horribly but I know that he will always be watching over me, especially whenever I go back to Iraq. To you Todd My brother from another mother. I love you and always will. Don?t worry I will watch over your family as you watch over me. I know that I will see you again and we won?t be separated by distance ever again. We will be able to achieve our goal of sitting on the porch reminiscing about the old days. We will just have to do it in heaven now instead of on Earth. I am not going to say goodbye because goodbyes are forever. To you I say see you later and I love you.

A sweet, kind and polite young man who made his parents and siblings proud because of who he was--our only regret is not having known him longer. You fought a hard fight, baby boy, and you touched many lives permanently along the way. May God's peace be with your family while you rest. Philippians 4:6,7

Tiffany- I am so terribly sorry for you and your family's loss. I was out Monday and Tues. and just found out a little while ago. I will definitely be making a donation to Todd's Teddy Bear Drive. You are in my thoughts and prayers.- love, Laura

I will always remember Todd as a fun-loving and giving young man. A young man that I was able to watch grow into a person that should be admired for his strength and compassion towards his fellow man. I personally admire the manner in which he approached his diagnosis and continued to live life to its fullest. I am greatful for having the opportunity to know Todd and watch him mature. I am sad to have lost the friendship that we developed over the past eight years, but I am greatful that he suffers no longer. I admire the strength of his friends, but more so all of you, his family for providing him with such love and support throughout his struggle. It is very clear to me where Todd got his strength and compassion for his fellow man. You should be very proud to have a son, or brother, such as Todd and the short time he had with us all was precious. I only spent a few moments with Todd, but it was a nice evening for him, captured in numerous photographs. It was at my house in late October, at a Halloween party for E-N staffers and their family and friends. He was so sweet and he smiled so much that night; I will always treasure that singular memory of him dressed as a girl scout, cheerily holding a drink in my kitchen. I am so very sad about his passing; the strength he showed throughout his illness is an inspiration. Your family remains in my thoughts and prayers.

Tricia, Tom and the Schwennesen family, I am so saddened by your loss. You are in my prayers and thoughts. I didn't know Todd but knowing how friendly, kind and generous the two of you are, I know that he was a great guy and will be sorely missed.
