He was the husband of Elsa Pangilinan. They shared 59 years together and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this November.
Born in Gapan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on May 23, 1937, he was the son of Gregorio and Aurora Pangilinan. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
He was employed at Saniwares (later on American Standard) and worked as a Production Manager for 35 years where he was well-respected and admired.
Dandy is survived by spouse, Elsa Pangilinan , children Lynnette and Dozier McKinnon, Triel Pangilinan and Roummel and Marianne Pangilinan; grandkids Jessielynn and Razy Molina, Marco and Jen Bagnas, John and Helen Bagnas, Tim and Shiori Bagnas, Roumann Pangilinan and fiancée Laura Ahn, Kyle Pangilinan, & Raven Pangilinan; great-grandkids Jake and Emme Molina, Zachee and Jett Bagnas, Harper Bagnas, Kai Pangilinan and future grandson Carter Pangilinan.
A patriarch in the truest sense of the word, he was beloved by his family, friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was an adored father, grandfather and great grandfather; who all inherited his adventurous spirit and humor. He was always a positive influence in his family’s lives and made everyone feel loved. During his later years, his great grandchildren were a great source of joy and loved to spend time with them.
He loved to explore and travel to new places and one of his favorite memories was hiking with his grandkids across a volcano and lava fields on the Big Island in Hawaii and considered that experience at 77 years old one of his biggest accomplishments.
Many can attest that moments spent with Dandy were most often joyous. Although he may appear stoic and quiet at first, after a few moments with him you will discover his playful nature. He loved practical jokes on his family.
Dandy loved gardening and was very proud of his roses and succulent garden at his long time home in Bellflower, California.
He loved watching basketball and played competitively in his younger years.
He was also an accomplished bowler with many trophies to his name.
Dandy was a very proud man. He valued education and always reminded his children and grand children about his life story, " I was selling cigarettes in the street, but through hard work and perseverance, had the chance to finish college and able to support my children through school."
Most of all he was a beloved husband of Elsa Pangilinan. He never let a morning go by without making breakfast and coffee for his cherished wife. He made it a point to always embrace and kiss her every night before going to bed. His solution to every disagreement was to always make Elsa laugh. They loved spending time together from going on big trips to see their family all over the US or the Philippines to simple trips to the grocery store every Saturday morning and Tuesdays at Ross.
He is also survived by brother Angel Pangilinan, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Dandy is now enjoying heaven reunited with parents Gregorio and Aurora Pangilinan and siblings Freddie, Efren, and Nene.
