
Trudy Selig, 78, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010. Trudy was born during the Great Depression on February 24, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Spring Valley, NY and Shelton, CT. She graduated from Spring Valley High School where she met her husband, Clyde Selig. They married on September 9, 1951, at Temple Beth El in Spring Valley. The couple had two daughters, Robin and Leslie. Trudy graduated from Hunter College with a degree in Speech and Drama. She also earned a Master's Degree in Special Education at Southwest Texas State University.
Trudy and the girls accompanied Clyde on an Army tour to Vicenza, Italy. She learned to speak and cook Italian. The family then settled in Seguin, TX where Trudy resided for 48 years. Later Trudy and Clyde also lived part-time in South Lake Tahoe, CA. where she enjoyed the spectacular scenery and visits from her grandchildren.
Trudy was certified by the American Speech and Language Hearing Association of the United States and was a licensed speech-language pathologist. She taught special education in the Seguin Independent School District. She later served the Seguin community as a speech-language pathologist in private practice. She was passionate about education and literacy.

She was involved in community theater, the Girl Scouts and served as the president of both the Seguin Library and the Seguin Branch of the American Cancer Society. She shot a hole-in-one on the sixth hole at Starcke Park. Her first priority always was caring for her family.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Rhoda and Sol Zanar; her brother, Jerry Zanar and her niece, Louise Zanar. She is survived by her beloved husband, Clyde; her daughters, Robin Selig of Portland, OR and Leslie Selig Byrd of San Antonio, TX; her sons-in-law, Harrison Latto and Richard Byrd; and her four grandchildren, Lauren and Josh Latto and Jordan and Emily Byrd.
