Ernest D. Carwile - beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
He was born May 7, 1918, in Gorman, Texas. Ernest graduated from the University of Omaha with a degree in Civil Engineering.
He was drafted into the Army, Cavalry Division and was subsequently assigned to bombardier training. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in Midland, TX.
He served during WWII on Tinian Air Base, Marianna Islands and was shot down near Yalta, Japan, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart medal.
In August 1946, he was assigned to duty in Germany for three years as a Provost Marshal and Squadron Commander. The highlight of his career was the privilege of serving for 5 years with Gen. Curtis LeMay. He retired from military service after 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Neoma Laughlin Carwile who passed away in 2005.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth; two daughters: Connie (Peter) Wyckoff and Cindy (John) Seidensticker; and a son, Ernest D. Carwile, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
