Val spent most of her childhood living in Italy, Germany, and Hawaii as an Air Force daughter. Throughout her childhood, you could find Val roller skating, especially at the Ramstein skating rink. As she grew into her teenage years, she began modeling and was runner up for Miss Teen Hawaii. As a Sophomore, she moved back to San Antonio and graduated from Judson High School in 1977. She went to San Antonio College and was a Ranger Cheerleader. Valerie met the love of her life, Steve, and they married 1987. Through the Air Force, they traveled the world. Some of her favorite places they once called home were: Okinawa Japan, Bitburg Germany, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, and Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. She was very involved in the Officers Wives Club, was a Squadron Commanders Wife, and held several board positions. She loved to volunteer, help others, dance, and most importantly played golf at least three times a week. She had Madison her only child in Bitburg Germany in 1991 and brought Madison along on the adventures. After their time in the Air Force, Steve and Val settled down in Spring Branch, Texas in 2005. Throughout Madisons childhood years, Val was extremely involved in Madisons activities, and was her daughters #1 fan. During her time in Spring Branch, Val was an avid member of multiple ladies groups where she frequently golfed, bowled, played cards, participated in a book club, and bible study. She was passionate about everything she participated in and spent all of her days smiling, laughing and spreading joy to others.
Val was a two-time Breast Cancer Survivor and in October of 2021, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma. She was fearless and fought her battle with cancer as hard as she could. After 3 months of fighting, Valerie lost her battle to cancer. She always said when her time comes we should be happy for her, because she will be on a date with Steve. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. God decided it was her time to be crowned in the Kingdom of Heaven and reunited with her husband, mother, and father. Valerie touched many lives while she was on earth and will continue to live on in our hearts. She was and still is so loved by many.
