She was also preceded in death by her husband Louis in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Oliveri; her nephews Constantine Mariolis, and Bruce Ewing; her nieces Cheryl Mariolis, Susan Rae Ewing Soini; her sister-in-law Daisy Mariolis; and good friends, Monica Jimenez Stahley, Ady Ferrell and Teresia Castilleja.

Vera was a graduate of the New England Hospital of Women and Children, Boston and held a degree from the Anesthesia School at Cornell Medical Center, New York. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force, an active real estate realtor/broker, and to say she was passionate about BINGO would be an understatement.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the Trisagion beginning at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:15 A.M. at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 2504 N. St. Mary’s St. The interment with military honors will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
