She enjoyed embroidery, traveling, and her many trips to Australia were her most memorable.
She was an active member of Madison Square Presbyterian.
She and her devoted sister, Essie Mae attended John Sealy in Galveston, TX. Verde graduated from John Sealy in 1939 and was honored to be a registered nurse.
Verde was proud of her husband of 40+ years who dedicated 35 years of his life to the San Antonio Police Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Martin, and son Charles Wiley Martin.

Martin and wife Sharon L; daughters, George Ann Held and husband Ira, Heidi Martin Pugh and husband Sam; sister, Essie Mae Evans; niece, Teresa Coyner and husband George; grandchildren, Pamela Martin and husband Michael, Wendi Martin, Steven Martin and wife Cheryl, Jennifer Ladouceur, Monica Ladouceur and fianc Keith, Kelsie Martin, Ashley Martin, George-Thomas Pugh and MiaMarie Pugh; as well as 5 Great Grandchildren
